Photo Contest

December 12, 2012 was the last time this century that the calendar year-month-day digits were the same! The next time the digits will match is January 01, 2101.

The Nicola Valley Museum & Archives sponsored a photo contest with the criteria that the images be taken in the Nicola Valley between 12:01 AM and 11:59 PM on December 12, 2012.

The judge considered the following photographs (marked with a star) exceptional from a 12-12-12 perspective as well as artistic balance:

  • An empty emergency room, a lovely sight by Julia Smith, age 8.
  • Julia, Ivy and Gabrielle capturing 12/12/12 by Dena Smith.

The Nicola Valley Museum & Archives continues to seek photos of people and landmarks in the area, particularly historical photos that may be in your old albums. For new photos, the photographers retains copyright.

For future researchers.

The Archives plans to retain the accepted images for future researchers and may publish selected images in in-house publications. Low resolution versions of images may be posted on this gallery page.
